Named for the spines on its back that help it close, the Spiney Oyster shell is found in the Sea of Cortez off Baja California, Mexico. It was the shell most loved by the Mayan people, and has been found in abundance in excavations of the Anasazi and Hohokam tribes of the Southwest.
When Cortez took examples of Spiney Oyster back to the King of Spain, the king’s daughter fell in love with it. The shell acquired the name Princess. Just like the Princess, collectors are sure to fall in love with this knifexx exclusive.
